SISTERHOOD

NOTICE:

CHAIRPERSON NEEDED FOR THIS MINISTRY!!!!!

MINISTRY PURPOSE

Our Sisterhood Ministry is responsible for our “Food for Friends” program, which provides homemade casseroles/meals to any St. Coleman parishioner in a time of need - due to their own illness, family member illness, death in family or being homebound.

DESCRIPTION

One of the essentials of Jesus' ministry was bringing comfort. And about four years ago, some women of SCWC thought of a way to bring comfort to those who were grieving or had suffered a loss or an illness --they would bring food to them - and Sisterhood Ministry was born.  In a time-honored tradition,  yummy casseroles are made with love by our SCWC ladies and are brought to monthly meetings to be stored in a special area in a large freezer at St. Coleman's. When members of our Sisterhood ministry are alerted to a need, casseroles are picked up and taken to families. For the people who received meals over the past few years, it meant a lot, especially when they did not have to worry about a meal for at least one night.

WHO MAKES THE CASSEROLES?

At this time, we rely upon our membership for the ongoing supply of casseroles for our ministry.

WHAT KINDS OF CASSEROLES/DISHES DO MEMBERS PROVIDE?

Members have been so generous - they have provided big batches of tasty dishes like:

  • beef stroganoff

  • Spaghetti and Meatballs

  • chicken and wild rice

  • Mexican casseroles

  • beef or vegetable lasagna

  • and many more!!!!

Many of our ladies double a meal they normally make and create an extra dish to share.

ARE THERE ANY GUIDELINES FOR THE CASSEROLES/MEALS?

Yes. When preparing a casserole, we ask that you please follow the guidelines below:

  • Meals should be in either a 9”x13” or 9”x9” disposable bakeware pan  (Hefty EZ OvenWare can be bought at Publix) —  the smaller size will be given to individuals who live alone, the bigger for families

  • Tape a label to top of meal listing: ingredients, heating instructions, & date prepared.

  • Place meal into a 2 gallon ziploc bag.

HOW MANY CASSEROLES ARE NEEDED?

We are a large parish, so we would like to have at least ten (10) at all times. The more casseroles we have, the better - Casseroles are always welcome!

HOW DOES SISTERHOOD KNOW IF SOMEONE IS IN NEED?

We ask our members to please notify us if you know anyone in the parish who can use a meal by sending an email to the Sisterhood Chairperson(s).  (See emails below)

For more information or to notify us that a meal is needed, please contact our Sisterhood Chairperson(s):
