Be sure to register for the Out of the Darkness Walk on Nov 10!

Join Me in Supporting the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

I'm walking in the Out of the Darkness Broward County Walk in memory of my husband Dan Cucchi and his cousin Jean Serewicz, and to fight suicide and support AFSP's bold goal to reduce the suicide rate 20% by 2025.

Please help me reach my personal goal of $8,000 and my team goal of $10,000 by clicking the "Donate" button on this page. All donations are 100% tax deductible and benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), funding research, education, advocacy, and support for those affected by suicide.

My husband, Dan Cucchi, suffered from PTSD, and suffered in silence. He was a police officer and detective for 29 years. On September 15th, 2015, he died by suicide. Across the country, an average of 436 law enforcement officers have taken their lives each year since 2004, according to the National Police Suicide Foundation. I won't remain silent and let the stigma keep me from helping others who might be suffering in silence. I hope to encourage others to seek help.

Dan was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, godfather, brother-in-law, son-in-law, police officer, friend, etc. (the list can go on and on forever) Everyone loves, "Dan the Man", "The Cooch", "Ice Ice Cucchi", "Father Dan"! He touched so many people in a positive way. At his funeral I heard so many stories of how Dan postively impacted their lives. I want something good and postive to come from the tragedy of his death. I plan to keep his memory alive and to help others in any way possible. Please help others suffering in silence to have the courage to seek help. You can make a donation on my page in honor of Dan or anyone you lost to suicide, or become a member of our team "The Cucchinators". You can walk or be a virtual walker on our team in honor of Dan or your loved one. The walk will be at Nova Southeastern University in Davie on November 10th. Check-in/Registration begins at 8:00 AM. The walk begins at 9:00 AM and ends at 11:00 AM. I hope you can join our team, "The Cucchinators" or make a donation.

Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the US. Here is what your donations will help accomplish. The mission of AFSP is to fund scientific research, offer educational programs for professionals, educate the public about mood disorders and suicide prevention, promote policies and legislation that impact suicide and prevention, provide programs and resources for survivors of suicide loss and people at risk, and involve them in the work of the Foundation.

Anyone that would like to order a t-shirt (child and adult sizes) for our team "The Cucchinators", please email (youravongirl@bellsouth.net) or call (954)292-8342, me your sizes and I will send you a photo of it as well. You can see the back of the shirt in the photo on my page under "My Story".

Thank you for your love, generosity and support! God Bless You!

Lisa Ann Cucchi
