The purpose of this ministry is to document SCWC events and activities during the year through photographs, showing how the Women's Club participates and helps within our parish and our community.
WHAT WE DO:
We attend and participate in SCWC meetings, events and activities, taking pictures and having fun. Afterwards, we will post pictures on the SCWC Group Facebook page for all to enjoy!
During the year, we will weave together our favorite photos, words, music and even video (if we have some) into a digital yearbook using Smilebox, which is a photo sharing and social expression application intended for creating digital collages, invitations, slideshows, e-cards and scrapbooks. (Sounds really fancy schmancy, but trust us, Smilebox is fun and REALLY easy to use!)
At the very last meeting of the year, we will present the Club with a lovely electronic memory book/slideshow of all of the years' activities and events on the big screen!
After the end of year meeting is over, the Historians Chairperson will send a link to the electronic memory book to the Communications officer, who will then distribute it to all the paid SCWC members as a parting gift to celebrate our wonderful year together!!
DO I HAVE TO BE A PRO PHOTOGRAPHER OR HAVE A FANCY CAMERA ?"
NO!! If you are a pro, that would be sweet!!!! but if you are not, that is ok, too! Anyone with a camera or a cellphone with a camera can be a Historian -
DID THE HISTORIANS ALWAYS DO DIGITAL YEARBOOKS?
No, the original founders of this ministry were a trio of very talented ladies who loved to Scrapbook! The first ever yearbook was a true labor of love - it was 100% handmade, and took many hours of designing, cutting, pasting, etc. What they produced was an absolutely stunning yearbook filled with joyful happy pages. We truly appreciated and loved all their hard work but realized that times are demanding for many who are working and have families, so we sought a solution that would allow for a beautiful scrapbook to be made but with minimal time investment. That is when we came across Smilebox, which is really easy to use and will allow our Historians to accomplish the same goal of providing a beautiful yearbook for the Council in very little time. Of course, the original scrapbook will be the cadillac of them all, but the Smilebox ones will be brilliant and great!!!! And the best thing is we can share it with the members!
WHO CAN BE A HISTORIAN?
Any member of the SCWC may be a Historian. This ministry is responsible for attending all meetings, events and activities, so we are always in need of extra helping hands to take turns, since no one person can do it all!!! The more the merrier!!!!
HOW DO I BECOME A HISTORIAN?
Contact our chairperson to let her know you are interested, so you can work out a schedule of events you are willing to commit to covering. Also, if you don't know from one week to the next what you will be able to do and just tend to show up randomly to SCWC meetings and events, you can really help the Historians out by posting any photos you take during those events to the SCWC Group Facebook page!
