The purpose of this ministry is to reinforce and promote fellowship and to support Saint Coleman Church by formally welcoming mass attendees to the parish, answering questions and providing information about the parish to anyone with questions, assisting disabled persons, and distributing church bulletins and brown bags and clearing pews of leftover bulletins after mass is over.
WHAT DO GREETERS LOOK LIKE?
Greeters look like YOU!!!! They dress well and are always cheerful, wearing a warm and welcoming smile. Little Known Fact... Greeters are typically members of the SCWC, but we sometimes are fortunate to have their husbands and children assist with greeting as well!
WHEN SHOULD GREETERS ARRIVE TO THE CHURCH FOR THEIR SHIFT?
Greeters need to arrive 30 minutes before mass (no later) to have time to put on a nametag and so you can greet people as they arrive for mass. (Obviously if you come later than that, you won't have anyone to greet because everyone will already be in the church! Ha! Ha!)
WHAT EXACTLY DO GREETERS DO?
Being a Greeter is EASY!!! Here is a list of the typical duties of a Greeter:
PREP - Greeters arrive early and put on a name tag that distinguishes them from the parishoners
GREET - After putting on nametags, Greeters will stand at the front door of the church and greet and provide a warm welcome to parishioners (and visitors!) as they enter the church and arrive for mass.
ASSIST - Greeters assist parishioners that are disabled by helping them (if needed) to the special seats we have for them in the rear of the church.
ANSWER QUESTIONS - Greeters answer any questions parishioners and mass attendees may have.
HANDOUT - Greeters hand out church bulletins and brown bags (on Brown Bag Sunday) and say goodbye.
PICK UP - After the mass is over and after saying goodbye, Greeters collect the bulletins that are left behind in the pews.
With all the wonderful things our Greeters do, it is no wonder people love our Greeters!!
THAT'S IT!!! BEING A GREETER IS EASY AND VERY REWARDING!

"When you hug someone sincerely, you share three things; WARMTH, SMILES AND LOVE.
Tell me, what else brings greater joy than these?
To Be Loved, The Warmth from a Dear One and...
A WELCOMING or FRIENDLY SMILE!"
